What will this site be used for?

This probably won’t be super interesting to read, I’m basically writing it as an accountability mechanism and to set a direction for myself.

What will I write about

Random side projects I’m working on

Thoughts on AI impacts and AI alignment.

These can be both technical and policy, I’m interested in both.

Thoughts about future possibilities in UX design opened up by LLMs and new types of classifier models.

Right now most UX design for LLMs is just iteration on chat interfaces or teaching LLMs how to interface with pre-existing UX paradigms.

Chat interfaces are pretty much the most boring direction UX can take. Taking currently existing desktop metaphor UI and replacing it with a magic textbox that does whatever you tell it to is in many ways a regression.

UX that centers human interaction modalities while still leveraging new technology may help combat gradual disempowerment (i haven’t fully thought this through and could easily be wrong).

How I ought to write

Try to be relatively concise when effortposting. (maybe i should have some tag system for effortposts vs unedited notes)

Do not worry too much about posting unedited thoughts. These are notes, not posts or well researched articles.

Try and demonstrate epistemic humility without giving into the impulse to couch everything as being written by someone unqualified.

If some obvious factual error is made, edit the article to point this out while not hiding the original error.
